The Amazing Schools Project

Building a community through education

Our Curriculum - developed along the needs of the rural community

Our Curriculum at the moment is being crafted around the following parameter

  1. Incorporating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
  2. Offering a first contact base to education in general
  3. Developing the very basic literacy and communication skills in English
  4. Developing an understanding of basic mathematics
  5. Developing basic science skills, here especially in relevance to the environment of the school (farming, crops, plants, organic farming)
  6. Developing social skills, especially in regards to team work, self presentation, mutual respect, tolerance, support of community.
  7. Developing a basic understanding of hygiene, self- care and personal well-being.
  8. Development of cross& fine motor-skills
  9. Development of a basic level of understanding of financial and economical relations, especially in regards to entrepreneurial thinking

As the school just has opened we are facing the challenge of having received children of all ages with no previous school history, so being pretty much on the same level.

The Amazing Schools Project wants to bring education to the rural areas. Filling a gap in the provision of education for the rural community does not only require a different approach to schooling but also involves answering the very specific needs of the community. Find out more about our curriculum here.
The Amazing Schools Project provides education for free, focuses on basic educational needs and uses a very child centered approach to teaching. It is further planned to establish technological support for the teachers in order to provide the children of Dutsen Wai with an education that will strengthen their roots in the community and at the same time will provide the knowledge and preparedness for our globalized world.

Also, our teachers had to be recruited from the community. There are no trained teachers willing to work in the rural areas, also their acceptance of the school community would be rather low.

Our teachers have to learn at the same time of the students, we are facing major discussions in regards to methods and didactic, as the teachers want to teach in a very traditional strict way, which we do not encourage.

Therefore our priority at the moment lays on basic skills training for the teachers and at the same time basic skill education for the students as an structure base before a more formally followed curriculum will be implemented. We invited wonderful inspiring trainers who supported the continuing learning and development of our dear teachers and will continue to do so.
